GEN 2

Genesis 2

1. Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested [a] from all his work. 3. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

--Why do they keep saying the same thing over and over…that is really alloying…I get it, he rested, he rested…but why did an all powerful god need to rest? I’ve heard people say that it wasn’t a weary rest but a rest after a good job done, a holy rest of satisfaction…if that is so, why doesn’t the bible just say that. As long as we’re on the subject of days and resting and all that…why did god need six days to create everything in the first place? Is he not powerful enough to create everything in a blink of an eye? Because of science, we know the earth was not made in six days and because of the bible we know god’s days were not billions of years. If the bible says god made everything in existence in 144 hours and then had to take a break I would like to know how people can stomach this garbage. I really would.

Adam and Eve

4. This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens- 5. and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground, 6. but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground 7. From the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

--From what I gather, god’s saying that there were no plants on earth only because there was no rain and no men to till the ground…however, we know that plants and animals came long long long before men…and plants don’t need men in order to grow naturally…we need plants. To believe in the holy word we must accept that god took a bunch of dirt and made a clay man out of it and then blew into the nose wholes to bring this clay person alive! Eat your heart out Frankenstein.

8. Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9. And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

--God builds a place he names Eden, and in the east of Eden there is a garden. Then God puts the clay man in the garden. Then God puts all nice looking trees and trees that the man can eat from in the garden…I must ask, what is nice looking to god? What is god’s definition of attractive? Just curious why god would say that, you would think he might see all his trees as attractive, or why would he make them. Then god puts two more trees in the garden. The tree of Life and the tree of Knowledge of good and of evil…most people only remember the evil part…why did god put these trees in here…the world may never know. They both sound like good trees to me.

10. A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11. The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12. (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.) 13. The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush. 14. The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Asshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

--What does a god care for rare rock and resin? Gold, onyx (gemstones), bdellium (a yellow tree resin used in perfumes…the aromatic resin) are all of little value to a god, so why would a god mention them, or their quality? It sounds more like a man has written the stones and resin in to entice the greed of other men. Why would god himself fancy the worth of gems, gold and perfume? Also here is a river that splits into four. The names here change depending on what version of the bible you read and seriously, I don’t see their importance other than most of them are believed to be in the middle east…nearly anybody can tell you that Africa is the birth place of humanity.

15. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16. And the LORD God commanded the man, you are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17. but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

--Um, wasn’t the guy already placed in the garden… Now the bible is telling us that god made all that is in existence so that he could make a pretty garden and put a naked man in it and watch him “work it”… …Then god put a tree in the garden, and god says… “Yeah, I put it here, but only to taunt you, you can’t eat it. It’s for lookies, not for touchies.” What gives? It doesn’t make sense to make everything in existence for this purpose: a garden, a single human male, the man’s job is to maintain the garden and not eat from one tree…a tree that doesn’t need to be there, but god put it there as some kind of mind game!

18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." 19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

--This makes no sense… Why is it up to this man he created (who was never taught how to talk and apparently sprung from the ground a full grown male) to name every animal that has ever existed! As if they could ALL fit in a garden in the Middle East, as if they could all survive there. Some animals need cooler, wetter environments. BUT, apparently all these animals that god put there to lighten Adam’s burden were doing a piss poor job…and god didn't see that coming...

21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, for she was taken out of man." 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. 25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

--Great, a mythological story about why god made women. There’s no special story to explain why men deserve to live, but women, now that needed some explaining didn’t it? As Christians, Muslims and Jews believe, women were an afterthought, created only to serve man because wild animals didn’t cut it. Before now Adam was either reproductively self-sufficient or god had only intended there to ever be one person in all the world. But, if god is timeless and all knowing why did he think animals would help, why didn’t he just make women with men? This whole thing makes no sense at all. Any biology teacher will tell you that female is humanities default, go-to sex. All humans would be women if not for a tiny little chromosome that does almost nothing else but make a would-be woman, a man…like redirecting a train. And am I reading this right? “The man said, "This is now bone of my bones…” Women are not this. Does this not sound completely sexist to anyone else?

Discrepancies found in Genesis 2:1 – Genesis 2:25
1. An all powerful god should not need to rest
2. We all know that the earth was not made in six days
3. It is unrealistic for people not to labor at all on the seventh day of the week
4. Plants do not need man’s intervention in order to survive
5. Male humans are not literally made out of clay
6. Different bible versions have inconsistent translations
7. An all powerful god would not designate the value of materials that would be good for markets or trade. Only greedy men would care of such things.
8. The cradle of life was not in the Middle East, but in Africa
9. God put Adam in the garden of Eden twice, 8th verse and 15th verse
10. Animals were not created to be man’s servants
11. Humans were not created before birds and land animals
12. One man did not name all animals in existence
13. The bible first says fish and birds were made first, then beasts and then men, and now it is contradicting itself.
14. All animals that ever existed were not living in the Middle East at one time, ever
15. God is supposed to be infallible, but that animals he made didn’t work out
16. There is no special reason why women exist, almost all species have male and female counterparts
17. Women are not made out of ribs…well, most of us aren’t
18. Women were not created to be servants
19. Men were not created before women
20. A woman being made out of a man (false) is not why women and men marry and start families. Marriage is something almost all civilizations thought of on their own, without god.
21. In the first chapter god says he made both men and women at the same time, and now, the story has changed…yet again.
